TOUR DESCRIPTION & ITINERARYBarcelona is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, due in part to the unique architecture of Antonio Gaudi. Born in 1852 just outside Barcelona, Gaudi grew to be one of the most influential architects of the Modernista movement and built many of his greatest works in Barcelona. Inspired by nature, buildings designed by Gaudi are unmistakable. This tour, which includes transportation via taxi or chauffeured van, focuses on these one-of-a-kind creations, showing you the highlights of Gaudi’s work in this city.
You’ll begin in the hills of Barcelona at one of Gaudi’s most expansive creations – Park Guell. Now a public park designed to be enjoyed by all, the park began when Eusebio Guell purchased 42 acres of land in 1898. He commissioned Gaudi to help him create a community of houses with small gardens. Gaudi designed the infrastructure of the community, including the entrances, a food market, and roads. Although Guell’s vision never came to fruition, upon his death he left the park to the city. As your guide leads you through Park Guell, you’ll have the unique experience of walking through an entire community created by Gaudi, giving you the feeling that you’ve stepped inside his mind. As the park is located in the hills, you’ll also be able to take incredible photos of the city as you look down on it. From here, you’ll head off to Gaudi’s masterpiece – la Sagrada Familia. Gaudi’s almost finished basilica is the most visited attraction in Spain and an absolute must for all visitors. Its stunning façade depicts Biblical scenes in a style seen nowhere else in the world. Although the exterior will remain under construction until 2026, the interior is 85% completed and allows tours. Skip the line and step inside to experience Gaudi’s genius for yourself, as you’re transported into what feels like both a cave and a forest, with deep colors sparkling across the floor from the stunning stained glass windows. Your tour will finish with a visit to Paseo de Gracia – Barcelona’s version of Rodeo Drive. Your guide will show you some of Gaudi’s most famous works on the street, including la Pedrera and Casa Batllo, as well as equally stunning works by other architects like Casa Amatller and Casa Morera i Lleo. "Remembering Barcelona"
Elena made that day special and heighten our cultural experience and discoveries of Barcelona through her stories. We learned so much. Our tour had a van that drove us to all the high points of Barcelona, the details of the outstanding architecture, and much more. My favorite and most memorable moment was Gaudi's masterpiece of the Sagrada Familia. The soaring columns and the details were remarkable. We all had a great time and having Elena, a local country person of Barcelona to show us around her beautiful city is a must have if visiting Barcelona.
