TOUR DESCRIPTION & ITINERARYAs wonderful as Catalonia's capital is, the rest of the region provides some pretty spectacular offerings too. One easily accessible day trip from Barcelona is a high-speed train ride to Girona; the 65-mile journey takes just 38 minutes, and you will be met by your guide at Girona's railway station to begin your private day trip.
Once in Girona, you'll get to fully experience what makes this place special. For one thing, this is one of the most historic places in Spain. A cool activity that you can do to experience this history is walk along its walls, which date to the 14th century. They provide a great view of the city as well. Girona has also played a role in Jewish history as Jews have lived here since before they were given a choice of converting to Catholicism or leaving, which occurred in 1391 during the Papel Inquisition. Girona's Jewish quarter is one of the world's best-preserved while the city is also home to a fascinating Museum of Jewish History. A historic mikvah is one of the most famous things on display here. Other interesting religious items in Girona include the Tapestry of Creation, which may be viewed in the Museum of the Cathedral of Girona. It dates to the 11th century and is as mysterious as it is fascinating. An intriguing non-religious stop would be the Arab Baths, which were constructed by the Romans in the 12th century. They're conveniently located next to the Cathedral of Girona, and fans of "Game of Thrones" will recognize them as where Arya Stark hid from the Waif. In fact, many parts of Girona have been used as settings for "Games of Thrones" scenes and popular stops on our day trips to Girona. Interestingly, the confluence of four rivers - Galligants, Güell, Onyar and Ter - occurs in Girona. This fortunate positioning of so many forms of water transport helped Girona become a major trading town, a value that led to it transitioning from one ruler to another over the years. The earliest known inhabitants were Iberians, and it has been ruled by Romans, Visigoths, Moors, Catalans and Spaniards. Why not take a day trip glorious Girona on your next trip to Catalonia? It's worth the quick train ride from Barcelona solely to relax in its charming cafes, browse its quaint boutiques, walk along its cobblestone streets and cross the Eiffel Bridge. Add on everything else mentioned above, and you're sure to have a great day out of the city with our expert guides! WHAT'S INCLUDED

"Making Barcelona Special"
We went on a day trip with Nancy to Figueres to see the Dali Museum and explore the fascinating history of the churches and Jewish Quarter in Girona. Nancy added tremendously to the success of this trip. Her knowledge about history and anecdotes she shared during the outings captivated the attention of everyone, even the kids. Personally, I really appreciate the value added by a great tour guide over trying to read a tour book on the fly. Enchanting Barcelona Tours can make a big difference to how much you get out of a trip to Barcelona.
